My first travel experience outside of the US was a 10-day tour of Costa Rica with my brand new husband! We traveled from the center of the country to the east, then across to the west, and south to the sleepy little surf town of Jaco before returning to San Jose to fly home. That's all it took for me to realize the wonders of our planet and the desire to see as much of it as possible.
We smelled the sulfur of Poas Volcano, visited a banana plantation and packing facility, stood in the pitch black of night and listened to the lava flow from Arenal Volcano, soaked in the thermal hot springs, and visited a coffee plantation. And those were just the highlights!
